DARKROOM PHOTOGRAPHY - WORDS PROJECT
This project was created around the time of the Humanities Symposium, where we were encouraged to reflect on the power of language. I chose to explore how words can wound, heal, and shape the way we see each other. Inspired by the theme, I photographed my friends with the stereotypes they’ve personally faced, written across their hands and covering their mouths. These images highlight how harmful labels tied to gender, race, sexuality, and identity silence voices and reinforce unfair expectations. Through this work, I wanted to challenge the viewer to consider how deeply words cut—and to remember that, in the end, we all share the same humanity.
